Victoria & Albert Museum, Chinatown, Piccadilly, and meeting an Aussie...or two :)

Mary and I took a trip to The Victoria & Albert Museum to see the the fashion exhibit, just to find out that it was closed...a year ago...then we went to see the theatre & music exhibit which was very cool!

I could not even fathom how big of a museum it was! There was everything from royal jewelry to Korean art, Bibles and clothing

Amazing glass sculpture in the entrance of the museum

HUGE Roman replica columns. They have to assemble them within the museum

Beautiful and intricate ivory carvings

One of Pete Townshend's many smashed guitars

Is this the real life...or is this just fantasy...

Sir Elton John's bedazzled and rockin' costume

One of Mick Jagger's stage costumes...just the man who's chest I wanted to see...

Exact replica of Kylie Minogue's dressing room. Check out all of her Manolo Blahnik's!!!

Obviously she has great choice in luggage :)

Gorgeous courtyard within the Victoria & Albert Museum

We took the Piccadilly line to Leceister Square and wandered into Chinatown for a good restaurant

Sketchy, or "dodgy" as the Brits say, Chinese restaurant we ran into with really great food

Keepin' it classy at Gloucester Pub just a quick jaunt up the road

The gang hanging out in our local hangout; Gloucester Pub

This was all great, but I would definitely have to say the highlight of my night was meeting the two Aussie's from upstairs who randomly walked into our flat around 11pm both very comically inebriated. They just wandered into our flat because they are about 4 floors above us (we are on the 3rd) to take a break because they were sick of walking! They were super entertaining and told us all about Australia and how they had to fly 15 hours to either Singapore or Abu Dhabi and then another 9 hours to London. They told us that brawls are really prevalent because Aussie's like to protect their "mates" from the "Brits" who usually confront them in the pubs. Apparently they hate the Brit's because the Brit's think that they're a bunch of drunken partiers (judging by the noise coming from the upper levels at wee hours of the morning, I wouldn't at all refute that opinion :) I bought some tea and have been really enjoying it as a midnight snack :) I was also at a grocery store called Waitrose and they have orange flavored Kit-Kat's (similar to chocolate oranges around Christmastime in the U.S.) and gave some to the Aussie's; they thought they were the best things ever invented:) I gave 'em a couple more for the road and think I have made friends for life:) Tomorrow morning, Mary and I are going to Harrod's for the whole day! They open at 10am and close at 8pm. Sadly, I have class from 5-8pm, so Erin will act as my replacement for Mary's Harrod-obsessed day :) I'm sure it will be amazing as it takes up a whole city block!!! and it's has over 300 departments and 7 floors! I'll definitely post pics and tell you about it all. Love you, nighty night :)
