La Soiree

Tonight for our first theatre class, we hopped on the tube over to  the South Bank Big Top tent to a show called "La Soiree". It was a show of extremes from all nude burlesque to a huge African American man dressed in drag with a beard to a man who could fit his whole body through a 10" in diameter tennis racket! This was just a teaser so if you'd like to see more, check this link out! http://www.la-soiree.com/performers.asp

Our theatre professor took us on a quick tour of the South Bank and all of its theaters before the show. This is a statue of Laurence Olivier located just outside of a film building on the boardwalk by The River Thames.

As we got to our show, we realized that it would be inside a circus tent!!! Complete with circus music and a sword-swallowing lady, it was absolutely captivating and worth every moment!

This is a photo of the tent inside. Not the best, but we weren't supposed to take pics...so I snuck this one :) By far, my favorite act of the night was David O'Mer. He was trained as a gymnast as a young boy in Berlin and now does aerial ballet! He was absolutely amazing at his art and he isn't bad to look at either haha! Check out his link at the La Soiree website:
Tomorrow I have my British Life and Culture class and then it's the start of the weekend for me. Saturday we're heading out on the coach for Dover Castle and Canterbury Cathedral; two very important historic sites that have to do with the history of the United Kingdom. Dover Castle is right on the sea! I can't wait to smell the salty air :) Miss you all, love you :)
